Natalie Bookchin LIVE in conversation

Join New York-based artist Natalie Bookchin just days after the US election as she examines racial extremism, ‘fake news’ and mass uprisings through her artwork – issues at the forefront of current US and global politics. Bookchin’s artwork Now He’s Out in Public and Everyone Can See, featured in Conflict in My Outlook, is uncannily prescient. Produced with found footage made between 2009 and 2011 (and first on display when Trayvon Martin was fatally shot by a local vigilante) this work reveals patterns of discourse that also underpinned President Trump’s electoral campaign and the subsequent climate of ‘post-truth’ politics. Bookchin will present clips from new works as part of this live discussion with Holly Arden, Associate Director, UQ Art Museum. Audience questions welcome.
