UQ Art Museum has re-opened

We are open!

We’re very happy to announce that UQ Art Museum reopened to the public on Monday 3 August. There are a number of guidelines in place to ensure your visit with us is enjoyable and safe. We're so grateful for your continued support and for being part of our online community – and we look forward to seeing you back in real life at the Art Museum whenever you’re ready!

COVID-Safe Visitor Guidelines

As your health is important to us, we’ve put a number of guidelines in place to ensure your visit is enjoyable and safe. Please take a read through our COVID-Safe Visitor Guidelines before you drop into the Art Museum and have a wonderful time with our artworks and exhibitions when you get here!

New opening hours
Mon – Fri: 10am – 4pm
Sat: 11am – 3pm
Sun: closed

Stay home if you’re feeling unwell
Rest up and stay home if you’re not 100% – we’ll still be here when you’re feeling better!

Check-in via the front desk on arrival
All visitors will be asked to register their contact details when they arrive at the Art Museum. Check-in with our friendly staff at the front desk, and please don’t worry, your information will only be used by the Department of Health if it’s required for contact tracing purposes, and will be destroyed after 56 days.

Sanitise your hands

We’ll have hand sanitiser on the go for you.

Stay 1.5m apart

We love you, but please keep a 1.5m distance from us, and each other!

Limit on visitors in the Art Museum

There will be a limited number of people allowed in the Art Museum at any one time. Think of it as your own (semi) private visit and enjoy the extra space to explore.

Walk-in visitors are welcome

There’s no need to book in before you visit. However, if we’re at capacity, you may need to wait a little while before you can enter.

Our cloakroom is closed

To reduce contact, we ask that you please keep your bags and coats with you. Please also be cautious of your bags when moving through exhibitions, and you’ll either need to consume food or drink before entering exhibition spaces or keep them safely tucked inside your bag. This helps us protect you and our artworks. We may ask you to leave luggage or extra-large backpacks with us but we’ll have processes in place to ensure this is safe for you and our staff.

What else is new inside?
  • There’s more signage to help you understand our health and safety guidelines.
  • We’re increasing the frequency of cleaning and sanitisation in the Art Museum to keep our spaces sparkly clean and sanitised for you.
  • Our friendly staff are always keen to talk about art so please don’t be shy to ask us questions (from a safe 1.5m distance of course!)
To visit

No bookings are needed if you’re just visiting. Entry will depend on visitor number limits.

To book a guided tour

At the moment, we’re only offering tours for UQ courses. If you’re a UQ lecturer and you’d like a guided tour, please pre-book a session time. Contact our Education and Public Programs Officer for more information: n.garrett@uq.edu.au

To use a study space

Our study spaces will be available during our opening hours, but you might like to get in early as spaces will be limited. No bookings are needed.
